NP Jafari - The Swine Flu outbreak continues to claim more lives and infect more individuals. Today, the flu is now suspected in over 37 countries with fatalities reported in Mexico, and United States. The following are some important updates since yesterday.

In the United States, the first fatality as a result of swine flu was reported in Texas. A toddler is reported to have lost his life due the swine flu.

Mexican officials now believe that more than 2,500 people are suspected of having the disease and attribute 152 deaths to swine flu.
Officials have now confirmed that patient zero (the first infection) is a five year old boy living in a remote village in the state of Veracruz in Mexico.

Finally, Spanish authorities have confirmed the very first infection by a person who did not travel to Mexico in Europe. It has been widely reported that the patient’s girlfriend had however recently arrived back from Mexico.

Update: President Obama in his press conference just moments ago, referred to the swine flu outbreak as 'a very serious situation.' Mr. Obama also indicated that although he is pleased with the reponse so far, he is not content.
